Fellowship

 Fellowship…

As Paul wrote in Ephesians, we have received gifts “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.”  When coming to our church, we hope you experience a sense of our joy and hope that will make this your church, a central part of your life.  Do join us for fellowship with coffee/treats before each service.

Friendship Center Ministry Begins
Robson Ranch

Central Lutheran Church will be sponsoring and assisting the development of the Friendship Center ministry for the Robson Ranch community under the direction of Pastor Ron Hunt. The ministry will focus on being a welcoming and supportive spiritual environment for the residents of the community. It will be offering the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus and make a difference in the lives of others through personal callings.

Our congregation can share in prayer, study, outreach, administrative needs and financial support. Specific opportunities will be shared in the coming weeks.

The initial worship services will be held on Sunday, January 6th.

Some of our FUN fellowship social events:

 Book Club

“A Shepherd’s Look at Psalm 23” was the book read last year.  Previously we read:  The Homeless Donkey Who Taught Me about Life Faith and Second Chances by Rachel Anne Ridge; Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver

Women’s Book Club – Thurs, December 13th – 9 a.m. in Casa Grande

All women are invited to be a part of the study and reflection of “Seamless” by Angie Smith.

Seamless covers the people, places and promises of the Bible, tying them together into the greater story of Scripture. Participants will gain an overarching understanding of the fundamental layout and meaning of God’s Word.

Seamless helps replace insecurity that holds participants back with clarity and helping them move forward with confidence in their understanding of Scripture. Each week of study features key information that ties all of scripture together into the seamless truth of the gospel message and is accompanied by maps, general Bible facts, and word studies.

For more information contact Sandy Christopher (520-483-1442) or Dell Hoff (520-252-0488).

Co-Ed Softball

The Saints have been participating in the Casa Grande Parks and Recreation’s Monday evening co-ed league for several years.

Women and men in their 20’s through 50’s have joined to provide spirited play.

Fall Softball Season

Your “Saints” finished the season with a record of 3-10-1.  Watch for the team to take the field again in 2019.
Games are played at the Paul Mason Sportsplex on Pinal Ave. in Casa Grande.   Special thanks to the fans who come out to support our team.

 Dances

Themed events are held during the year with live music being performed. Fun and food are enjoyed.  Valentine’s Dance this year was enjoyed by all!

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate romance and love. The origins of the festival of candy and cupid are a bit muddled. In the 5th century, Pope Gelasius abolished a pagan fertility ritual held in February and proclaimed the 14th Saint Valentine’s Day, establishing it as a feast day on the Catholic Calendar of Saints.

The most popular story of the saint is that of a priest from Rome in the 3rd century. He secretly performed Christian weddings at a time Emperor Claudius II had banned marriage because he thought married men made for bad soldiers.

In the Middle Ages, the poet Chaucer was the first to link St. Valentine with romantic love.

No matter the origin, come listen to live music, dance, visit, and enjoy snacks and refreshments.

Game Night

Stay tuned for the next Game night!

Golf

Watch the calendar – usually scheduled for the end of each month on a Saturday during the winter months.  Fall through Spring monthly golf scrambles are held for members, friends, and visitors of the congregation. The team scramble format allows for players of all abilities to participate in this long-standing fellowship event.

Men’s Fellowship

Watch the calendar for each month’s dates –  9 a.m. in Casa Grande for fellowship and discussion of current topics.

Movies

The showing of entertaining movies bring our members and friends together for discussion and reflection.  The last movie was “The Shack” – enjoyed fresh popped popcorn, snacks and a good movie!

Quilting

Watch the calendar for the dates during the winter.  All women of the congregation, friends, and neighbors are invited to join in the quilting program. The women make a contribution of more than 100 quilts to our community every year. Their ministry is to share care and comfort through the gift of quilts.  The women of the congregation gather the first and third Wednesday of each month at the AZ City site Fellowship Hall (November – April) starting 9:30 a.m. (bring your lunch).
