Confession and Forgiveness

Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Gathering Song
Gather Us In
Here in this place the new light is streaming, now is the darkness vanished away; see in this space our fears and our dreamings brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather us in, the lost and forsaken, gather us in, the blind and the lame; call to us now, and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young, our lives are a myst’ry, we are the old who yearn for your face; we have been sung throughout all of hist’ry, called to be light to the whole human race. Gather us in, the rich and the haughty. Gather us in, the proud and the strong; give us a heart, so meek and so lowly, give us the courage to enter the song.

Here we will take the wine and the water, here we will take the bread of new birth, here you shall call your sons and your daughters, call us anew to be salt for the earth. Give us to drink the wine of compassion, give us to eat the bread that is you; nourish us well, and teach us to fashion lives that are holy and hearts that are true.

Not in the dark of buildings confining, not in some heaven, light years away, here in this place the new light is shing, now is the kingdom, and now is the day. Gather us in and hold us forever, gather us in and make us your own; gather us in, all peoples together, fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

Greeting
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you.

O Christ , Thou Lamb of God
O Christ, thou Lamb of God That takest away the sin of the world, Have mercy upon us! O Christ, thou Lamb of God that takest away the sin of the world, Have mercy upon us! O Christ, thou Lamb of God That takest away the sin of the world, Grant us thy peace! Amen

Sending Song
My Hope Is Build on Nothing Less
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; no merit of my own I clain, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain: On Christ, the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils his lovely face, I rest on his unchanging grace; in ev’ry high and stormy gale my anchor holds with the veil.
Refrain.

His oath, his covernant, his blood sustain me in the raging flood; when all supports are washed away, he then is all my hope and stay.
Refrain.

When he shall come with trumpet sound, oh, may I then in him be found, clothed in his righteousness alone, redeemed to stand before the throne!
Refrain.

Gathering Song
The Old Rugged Cross
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suff’ring and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain: So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Til my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, Has a wondrous attraction for me; For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above To bear it to dark Calvary.
Refrain.

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, A wondrous beauty I see; For ‘twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died To pardon and sanctify me.
Refrain.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true, Its shame and reproach gladly bear; Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share.
Refrain.

Song of the Day
What Wondrous Love Is This
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul! What wondrous love is this, O my soul! What wondrous love is this That caused the Lord of bliss To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul, To bear the dreadful curse for my soul!

When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down, When I was sinking down, sinking down, When I was sinking down Beneath God’s righteous frown, Christ laid aside his crown for my soul, for my soul, Christ laid aside his crown for my soul.

To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing; To God and to the Lamb I will sing; To God and to the Lamb, Who is the great I Am, While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing, While millions join the theme, I will sing.

And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on; And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on; And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing his love for me, And through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on; And through eternity I’ll sing on.

I Want Jesus to Walk with Me
I want Jesus to walk with me; walk with me,
I want Jesus to walk with me; walk with me,
All along my pilgrim journey, Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me. Walk with me.

In my trials, Lord, walk with me; walk with me;
In my trials, Lord, walk with me; walk with me;
When my heart is almost breaking, Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me. Walk with me.

When I’m in trouble, Lord, walk with me; walk with me;
When I’m in trouble, Lord, walk with me; walk with me;
When my head is bowed in sorrow, Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me. Walk with me.

They Will Know We are Christians by Our Love

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord. And we pray that all unity may one day be restored. And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. They will know we are Christians by our love.

We will work with each other, we will work side by side. We will work with each other, we will work side by side. And we’ll guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride. And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. They will know we are Christians by our love.

We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand. And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land. And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. They will know we are Christians by our love.

Sent Forth by God’s Blessing
Sent forth by God’s Blessing, our true faith confessing. The people of God from this dwelling take leave. The supper is ended. Oh, now be extended the fruits of this service in all who believe. The seed of Christ’s teaching, receptive souls reaching, shall blossom in action for God and for all. Your grace shall incite us, your love shall unite us to work for your kingdom and answer your call.

With praise and thanksgiving to God ever living, the tasks of our everyday life we will face— our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring, embracing God’s children, the whole human race. With your feast you feed us, with your light now lead us, unite us as one in this life that we share. Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving give honor to Christ and his name that we bear.

Go in Peace – Serve the Lord.

Blessed Assurance
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste if glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Refrain.

Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest, watching and waiting, looking above, filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

Song of the Day
What a Friend We Have in Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in
prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit; oh, what needless pain we bear— all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged— take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness— take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge— take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer. In his arms he’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Lord, the light of your love is shining, in the midst of the darkness, shining, Jesus, light of the world, shine upon us, set us free by the truth you now bring us. Shine on me, shine on me.

Refrain.

As we gaze on your kingly brightness, so our faces display your likeness, ever changing from glory to glory, mirrored here, may our lives tell your story. Shine on me, shine on me.
Refrain.
